USAF Bomber deployment RAF Fairford

RAF Fairford was once again the focus for many aviation enthusiasts in recent weeks, with the United States Air Force (USAF) deploying all three Bomber types on the USAF inventory to the Gloucestershire base. As well as supporting a number of multinational exercises being held within the European theatre, namely BALTOPS and Saber Strike, the deployment was also a chance to show NATO members their continuance of theatre bomber assurance and deterrence roles. Duncan Monk reports from the key strategic base on the exercises and participants. The Exercises Designed to enhance flexibility, interoperability , and strengthen combined response capabilities, BALTOPS [...]

RAF Cosford Air Show 2017

AeroResource’s Jamie Ewan and Niall Paterson – along with James Innes – were among some 50,000 people dropping in on the RAF’s sole airshow. With types such as Whirlwind, B-52, B-1B and Tornado gracing the flying display, would the show have enough to take ‘top spot’ this early on in the season? Here are their musings. RAF Cosford has become a must attend event for many and as, for the third year running, the event remains the sole Royal Air Force Airshow, it is the only real chance to allow for the public to engage with the RAF – both [...]

Shuttleworth Fly Navy 2017

When the Shuttleworth Collection announced that their 2017 calendar would feature another Fly Navy event, many ‘pencilled’ it in – both those with the memories of last year’s hugely successful edition and those who had heard about arguably ‘the top UK show of 2016’. That said, would 2017 match or even beat last year’s show? AeroResource’s Jamie Ewan & James Innes were at one of the country’s most loved display venues to find out. Northolt Evening Photoshoot XXIIa

Northolt Nightshoot XXII was originally due to take place March 23, however, with the tragic events taking place at Westminster the day before, the event was understandably postponed. With night’s drawing out, the planned nightshoot was instead to become the Northolt Evening Photoshoot XXIIa. Taking place on the re-arranged date of June 1, it was clear from the outset that the usual nightshoot format wouldn’t apply to the twenty-second event of its type, especially with sunset occurring just 20 minutes before the event’s planned finish time of 2130. With the previous event (Ed note: a recap of which can be [...]

Duxford Air Festival 2017

The Duxford Air Festival 2017 was the first of the three major air display events to be held at the Cambridgeshire airfield this year. With a strong lineup spanning almost the entire history of aviation, Adam Duffield headed to the Saturday of the two day show for AeroResource. Additional images from Duncan Monk. An often-levied remark around any Duxford airshow is that the majority of participants are the same and, in some ways, that could be considered a fair statement. However, the May shows over the last few years have seen the home team try to mix up the participants and it [...]
