Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, Somerset will open its gates on Saturday July 2 for the Royal Navy’s premier airshow. This action-packed day out for all the family has thrilling flying displays featuring the Fleet Air Arm with the Black Cat Display Team using a pair of Wildcat HM2 helicopters, the Royal Navy Historic Flight and their venerable Swordfish (W5856) and, for the last year ever, two Lynx HMA8 helicopters which will provide a Maritime Lynx Demonstration.
The Royal Air Force will also be showcasing in the air with the RAF Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows, the awesome Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane.
Civilian acts include the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron’s MiG-15UTI, the Bronco Demo team and their tiger marked OV-10B Bronco and in their first display year the Gazelle Squadron with a pair of Gazelles. Most recently announced was the attendance of The Fighter Collections FG-1D Corsair that will appear in formation with Air Leasing Ltd’s Supermarine Seafire LFIIIc – demonstrating just some of the Royal Navy Air Arm’s rich history. Rich Goodwin will also be present captivating the crowd with his highly energetic Pitts S-2S ‘Muscle Biplane’ display.
Foreign military aircraft on static display will include the Belgian Air Component F-16 Fighting Falcon alongside a Falcon 20E and from the Royal Netherlands Navy a NH90 NFH. Any additions will be added to the list in due course – you can keep an eye on new aircraft attending at the shows website – http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/yeovilton-airday
As always, the day will be finished off in style with the famous and exhilarating Commando Assault Demo with multiple aircraft, Marines, vehicles and pyrotechnics galore!
There is plenty to see and do on the ground with numerous engineering hangars open allowing you to see various aircraft being worked on, the famous Fleet Air Arm Field Gun runs, military exhibitions and stalls galore.
