A highlight of the airshow calendar, the biennial Farnborough International Airshow public weekend has a packed programme which will excite enthusiasts and families alike; 80,000 of which are expected to attend. Thanks to the organisers, AeroResource is giving away a pair of tickets valid for either Saturday or Sunday!
The stars of the show in the 5-hour flying display include the F35 Joint Strike Fighter making one of its first flights in Europe. Also hoping to make one of its first public outings is the Airlander, developed by Hybrid Air Vehicles, which is the world’s largest aircraft and currently in the earliest stages of a flight test programme. There is also a welcome return for everyone’s favourites, the RAF Red Arrows. Audiences will be enthralled by the daring aerobatics from Rich Goodwin in his Pitts Special, the Twisters and the gravity defying Breitling Wingwalkers. Vintage aircraft will include The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Catalina and P51 Mustang.
The Farnborough Flyers is a brand new volunteering initiative being launched at this year’s show. This mega team of volunteers will be assisting the public and helping everyone to have a fantastic day out and will be instantly distinguishable by their orange t-shirts.
Also new for 2016, the Farnborough International Airshow will be hosting the UK Drone Show which highlights the phenomenal growth in the hobbyist market for UAVs and a truly exciting time for the industry. The UK Drone Show along with Platinum Sponsor DJI will feature the exhilarating UK Drone Racing Masters Championship.
The Farnborough International Airshow showground will be full of attractions including the chance to get up close and personal with historical and modern aircraft. Boeing is celebrating its centenary and will have a special pavilion to explore whilst vintage aviation fans will also be able to enjoy exhibits from Brooklands Museum of British motorsport & aviation and the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust (FAST) Museum will be showcasing some of Farnborough’s unique pioneering aviation heritage.
Away from aircraft, there is a wide range of entertainment and interactive attractions too, including a motorbike and quad stunt show, tank driving, free fall stunt bag and a range of flight simulators. For younger visitors there are fun have-a-go activities including climbing walls, arts and crafts and entertainers in the family area. Also positioned around the show ground are selfie boards designed by students from the University of the Creative Arts where you can photograph yourself in a range of aviation costumes and poses.
